„During the second year of the pandemic, our studies were restricted and at times we had to stop filming completely. We looked for a way to remain creative despite the measures and began realising various projects with a minimal team.
After a few short film projects, we came up with the idea for our first feature-length film, „Brennnesselbad“. We didn’t want to make this film in a traditional shooting block, but rather shoot one or two days a week. From April to November, the three of us went out into nature almost every weekend to bring Kim’s story to life. Most of what happens in the film only developed over the shooting period, in line with our possibilities, our attitude to life and the places we discovered that summer.
We financed the film independently without film funding with a small crowdfunding programme. In May 2022, we were able to complete the film and celebrate its premiere at the Lichter Filmfest Frankfurt International. We are still overwhelmed by the positive feedback and are happy to see that Kim’s story touches other people. We hope that with our film we can show that young, independent perspectives deserve a place in front of and behind the camera and that the best way to explore new paths is to travel light.“
