Mensa – Infos
The Mensa Dieburg opens from 11:15 till 14:15.
From 14:00 till 14:15 everything is cheaper, but the best options are usually fast gone. Don’t let your lecturer extend the lecture over lunchtime, or after the Mensa is closed!
The Mensa is not open on the weekends, so if you have lectures then, make sure to bring food from home.
You pay with your Campus Card after collecting your food. To charge your card with money, you need paper cash. Coins and credit/debit cards are not accepted! The machine can be found inside the Mensa (to your left after entering).
My h_da – what can you find here?

Moodle – what can you find here?
Here are some helpful things you can find in moodle:
– Bill board (actors, jobs, festival infos, meet ups, etc)
– Good for shooting: Filming permit for Frankfurt, safety rules on set, free software licenses, renting props or booking the campus studio, h_da logos for credits or posters. We gotchu.
– Upload your internship documents (Vorpraktikum, Hauptpraktikum & the mandatory report). The course year you should choose is the year of your 4. Semester, where your mandatory internship should have taken place!
– Info for your Bachelor year.
Lecturers might use this platform to upload files, recordings of classes, as well to request submissions and homework from you. They should send you the course link in the first class, but if you are unsure, just ask them privately.
This platform is created and nourished by lectures and students, so it must be constant checked and updated. If you see missing or wrong information, if you have suggestions for more courses, want to add projects, jobs, or anything else, contact the lecturers or the lab engineers!
A great thing before every semester start is to navigate the Motion Pictures section and take a look at everything offered, including which courses are open or electives (tip: you might be able to get information on electives even before they are sent out on emails!)

– Jobs under „Meldungen“
– Contact partners, telephone numbers and e-mails of all lecturers, as well WHO you should contact for each specific question.
– How to book a room, software programs, practical info
– Summarized information on your Vorpraktikum (internship prior to your studies) and Pflichtpraktikum (mandatory internship)
– Internal website and more information of the equipment rental
Some pages are unfortunately not updated or only in German, but intranet will be soon discontinued.

Registering for electives
Every semester after the first one, apart from the mandatory lectures you can also register for additional electives you want to take part in and thus, design yourself the fields of learning you want to focus on.
Here is how:
– You can check the electives available in a separate course on Moodle. They will be usually available one to two weeks before the registration starts.
– Then, you can choose to register for electives in the OBS system (above).
– To log in in the OBS system, your username is your matriculation number.
– The calendar of electives will be available in the cloud and sent by e-mail.
However, it is also possible to graduate with more semesters, and you do not have to necessarily take 2 or 3 electives each semester. You can take only one in one semester, and more in the next one. You can take none. You can also take electives while you do your internship semester. You decide!
It is never certain that you will get a slot for the electives that you chose, so it is always smart to register for a few more than you intend to attend. If you have a favourite elective that you did not manage to get in, you can ask the professors privately if you can join – in many cases you will still be able to! That is why it is also important to let teachers know if you got a place but do not plan on attending their elective, so other people can take your spot.
