VAMOS A LA PLAYA is the name of the latest feature film by Prof. Bettina Blümner, which has succeeded in many festivals. The film tells of an adventure trip to Cuba, developed into a road trip, on which the travelers are repeatedly confronted with the poverty of the people. Travel video diaries of the characters are mixed to the classical film camera perspective in the film. The film was seen on November 10th and 12th 2023 at the Braunschweig International Film Festival.
Prof. Bettina Blümer could also share the knowledge and experienced aquiered during the shooting in her lecture „Research into the use of a smartphone camera in feature film projects“ at the ScienceWednesday on October, 26th, 2022. The lecture was about how the use of the smartphone camera affects the staging and acting of a cinema film. How can I achieve the best possible results? How can I enable the performers the greatest possible freedom in their acting? Which positive or negative aspects are achieved through increased flexibility? What changes in intensity and meaningfulness of the performance or film does the use of the smartphone result in? In addition, the results of reducing the film team and the technical apparatus were analysed and discussed.

Synopsis: Judith, Katharina and Benjamin travel to Cuba to deliver a message from their father to Wanja, Katharina’s missing brother. While Benjamin takes over the administration of their travel funds and Judith is reserved and respectful of the locals, Katharina tests the limits of purchasable love with dad’s money. The adventure holiday in a supposed tropical paradise they hoped for develops into a road trip on which they are repeatedly confronted with poverty. The journey is accompanied by disappointment, rejection and jealousy. The three record their impressions with video diaries, which are mixed with a classic film camera perspective.
